BIBLE AND THE POLICY OF AMERICANS FIRST

When President Donald Trump implemented the Americans First policy after taking office in January 2025 and deported many illegal immigrants from the United States, many people opposed that policy, especially members of the Democratic Party and their supporters.

Even some Christians disagreed with the policy because they thought that deporting illegal immigrants was inhumane and unloving, some even thought that illegal immigrants were images of Jesus and that when President Trump did so, it was against the teachings of God.

Such reasoning is very erroneous and completely contrary to the word of God in the Bible, especially contrary to the priority standard that God and Jesus Christ have set. We should know that President Donald Trump’s Americans First policy is supported by the Bible. So let’s look at God’s words in the Bible together to see what God’s teachings on priorities are.

First, let’s consider the argument that Jesus Christ was also an immigrant and therefore President Trump should not deport illegal immigrants from the United States lest he personally become anti-Christ.

This argument is wrong because Jesus Christ was not an immigrant at all, nor was he an illegal immigrant. There were no immigration laws in Egypt like today, and Joseph had no intention of staying in Egypt all his life. He only took Mary and Jesus Christ to Egypt to escape the danger of being killed by King Herod. And after Herod died, he and his family went back to his country.

Egypt at that time also did not have a welfare program to help its people and immigrants from other countries. Everyone had to work to survive. Today’s immigrants often rely on welfare program, even taking advantage of it. Therefore, they cannot be compared to the family of Jesus Christ.

It is also worth noting that President Trump focuses on deporting criminals among illegal immigrants. The family of Jesus Christ was a godly, moral family pleasing to God. Therefore, comparing Jesus Christ to illegal immigrants is a blatant lie, even considered blasphemous.

Next, we can look at the story recorded in Matthew 15:21-28 to learn about the priorities that Jesus Christ taught. In this story, there was a Canaanite woman who came to Jesus Christ to ask Him to heal her daughter who was possessed by a demon.

In verse 24 Jesus Christ answered that the grace of healing was given to Israel only, and in verse 26 He added that there was a significant distinction between God’s chosen people and the Gentiles. But the Canaanite woman demonstrated her strong faith by asking Jesus Christ to allow her child to enjoy that blessing when God’s people had already enjoyed it in full.

Through the words of Jesus Christ in this story, we learn a lesson about priority: Because Jesus Christ was of Jewish descent, God prioritizes the grace of healing for the Jews first and then for the Gentiles. Likewise, since Donald Trump was an American and elected president by the majority of the American people, he must naturally care about serving the American people first, and then, when the people in the country are well-off, he can care about foreigners.

The truth of such priority is repeated many times in the Bible, such as Paul’s words in Romans 2:10 – But glory, honor, and peace to every man that doeth good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. This is because the Israelites are God’s chosen people. Even punishment is given in such a preferential way, because God is just, as recorded in Romans 2:9 – Tribulation and distress to every man that doeth evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Such a priority was also mentioned in the preaching of the gospel by the apostle Paul, as recorded in Acts 13:46 – Then Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly to them, saying, It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

Although the apostle Paul was a man of great love, in preaching the gospel he had to obey the order of priority set by God in the Bible, which means that because he was a Jew, he had to preach to the Jews first and then to the Gentiles. Likewise, because President Donald Trump is an American, he must care about serving the American people first and then to the foreigners.

We don’t know whether President Donald Trump and his cabinet members know or do not know that the Americans First policy is consistent with the principle of priority that Jesus Christ taught in the Bible, but what we share here is to help our brothers and sisters in Christ avoid being deceived by evil people who misuse the Bible for their political scheme.
