ETERNAL TRUTHS IN THE BIBLE
BIBLE TOPICS
We Christians all know that everything about God is true. Not only does our faith acknowledge this, but reality also confirms God’s truth through His Word in the Bible. Humans cannot see God with their physical eyes because of the sin of all mankind, but through God’s words in the Bible we can see the truth of God.
The truth or correctness of God’s words is beyond all understanding and has been passed down for thousands of years without changing. That means the correctness of God’s words can be seen through all ages, all changes in human concepts. The correctness of God’s words is not only in the spiritual and moral aspects, but also in health, in nature and in science. And that is the mystery of God’s words that we can discover when we study and meditate on the Bible.
The word TRUTH means correctness, truthfulness and without any error, and never changing with time or human perspective. Therefore, when we know how to apply the truths in the Bible to our personal lives and use the Bible to evaluate and comment on all things and people, we will have the special wisdom that God’s Word has promised to give to anyone who does so. That promise of God is recorded in…
JOHN 8:12 – When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said: I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The following of God that Jesus Christ mentioned in this saying means believing in God and living according to the way that God has prescribed.
Reality shows that there are many Christians who believe in God but do not want to live according to God’s way. Such belief does not help Christians walk in the light of God, that is, they are not enlightened by Him about all things in this life. Therefore, when Christians want to walk in God’s light, they must know how to live according to the model that God has prescribed in the Bible. That means applying God’s truth to every aspect of their lives.
APPLYING BIBLE TRUTH TO CHRISTIAN LIFE
Looking at the reality in the general Christian community, we can see the consequences of not applying God’s truths to the Christian life.
Although God gave mankind only one Bible, but there are many churches and sects with very different doctrines and views, even in serious conflict with each other. The main reason is that people used their own personal learning, knowledge, and views to interpret God’s words in the Bible. But if all Christians rely on the Holy Spirit and His words in the Bible to interpret the Bible, there will be only one point of view, one understanding, one way. To achieve this, Christians must base their interpretation of the Bible on the Truths in God’s words. Therefore, any interpretation that contradicts, even one of the Truths of the Bible, is already wrong. The following are important and key Truths that should be used every time we study, meditate on, or interpret God’s word in the Bible:
1. GOD NEVER CHANGES
The Word of God in the Bible says that God is unchanging. It is written in…
MALACHI 3:6 – For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore you sons of Jacob are not consumed.
And in…
JAMES 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow due to turning.
Jesus Christ is also the One who never changes, because He is the Word of God incarnated as a man, so He also possesses all the characteristics of God, including the virtue that never changes. The Bible itself confirms this in…
HEBREWS 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Because the Holy Spirit is the power and wisdom of God, the Spirit of truth, who inspired His servants to write the Scriptures; therefore all the truths contained in the Scriptures remain eternal and will never change.
1 JOHN 5:7 – It is the Spirit Who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
JOHN 17:17 – Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
We write this article to share and help other brothers and sisters in Christ to know more about the important Truths in the Bible, because, according to the Lord’s words in John 17: 17 quoted above, the Holy Spirit and His truths in the Bible will help Christians to be sanctified, and sanctification is one of the three important factors that help us to receive salvation and enjoy eternal life in the future. That has been confirmed by the Lord’s words in…
HEBREWS 12:14 – Pursue peace with all men, and pursue holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
