SANCTIFYING ANOINTMENT

Bible: Exodus 28: 36-41

Main verse: EXODUS 28: 41 part B – You shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests.

– There are two kinds of anointment that were mentioned in the Bible: The body (mostly on the head) and the soul. In other words, they are physical and spiritual anointments.

– According to the Bible, anointment has four meanings: first, it is seen as an act to separate someone or something from the rest in order to reach God.

EXODUS 30: 30 – And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.

XUẤT Ê-DÍP-TÔ KÝ 30: 30 – Ngươi cũng hãy xức dầu cho A-rôn cùng các con trai người, biệt họ riêng ra thánh, để làm chức tế lễ trước mặt ta.

EXODUS 40: 10 – You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy.

XUẤT Ê-DÍP-TÔ KÝ 40: 10 – Cũng hãy xức dầu bàn thờ về của lễ thiêu, và các đồ phụ tùng của bàn thờ; rồi biệt riêng ra thánh, thì bàn thờ sẽ làm rất thánh.

– God is Holy, so everything that associates with him is holy.

LEVITICUS 11: 45 – For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

LÊ-VI KÝ 11: 45 – Vì ta là Đức Giê-hô-va, Đấng đã đem các ngươi ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô đặng làm Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi; các ngươi phải nên thánh, vì ta là thánh.

LEVITICUS 8: 11 – He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times, anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the laver and its base, to consecrate them.

LÊ-VI KÝ 8: 11 – Rảy dầu bảy lần trên bàn thờ và xức dầu cho bàn thờ cùng các đồ phụ tùng của bàn thờ, cái thùng và chân thùng, đặng biệt riêng ra thánh.

– Secondly, it means that a person is blessed by God.

PSALM 23: 5-6 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever

THI THIÊN 23: 5-6 – Chúa dọn bàn cho tôi trước mặt kẻ thù nghịch tôi; Chúa xức dầu cho đầu tôi, chén tôi đầy tràn. Quả thật, trọn đời tôi phước hạnh và sự thương xót sẽ theo tôi; Tôi sẽ ở trong nhà Đức Giê-hô-va cho đến lâu dài.

– It is also seen as a wish to be healed or to be respected.

RUTH 3: 3 – Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.

RU-TƠ 3: 3 – Hãy tắm rửa, xức dầu và mặc quần áo, rồi đi xuống sân đạp lúa; nhưng trước khi người chưa ăn uống xong, con chớ làm cho người nhận biết mình.

JAMES 5: 14 – Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

GIA-CƠ 5: 14 – Trong anh em có ai đau ốm chăng? hãy mời các trưởng lão Hội thánh đến, sau khi nhân danh Chúa xức dầu cho người bịnh đoạn, thì các trưởng lão hãy cầu nguyện cho người.

– Finally, it is a calling from God to serve him. That includes leading His people as kings, priests (for the Israelites) or church ministers (for Christians).

EXODUS 40: 13 – You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.

XUẤT Ê-DÍP-TÔ KÝ 40: 13 – Ngươi hãy mặc áo thánh cho A-rôn, xức dầu và biệt người riêng ra thánh; vậy người sẽ làm chức tế lễ trước mặt ta.

2SAMUEL 5: 3 – Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel.

2SA-MU-ÊN 5: 3 – Vậy, hết thảy các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên đến cùng vua tại Hếp-rôn; vua Đa-vít lập giao ước với họ tại Hếp-rôn, trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, và chúng xức dầu cho Đa-vít làm vua của Y-sơ-ra-ên.

2CORINTHIANS 1: 21 – Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.

2CÔ-RINH-TÔ 1: 21 – Vả, Đấng làm cho bền vững chúng tôi với anh em trong Đấng Christ, và đã xức dầu cho chúng tôi, ấy là Đức Chúa Trời.

– With this anointment, that person will serve God and His people without stopping or retiring, except in cases of sickness or disability.

– That person will also receive special blessings from God to do his duty.

1JOHN 2: 20 – But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

1GIĂNG 2: 20 – Về phần các con, đã chịu xức dầu từ nơi Đấng thánh, thì đã biết mọi sự rồi.

1JOHN 2: 27 – But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

1GIĂNG 2: 27 – Về phần các con, sự xức dầu đã chịu từ nơi Chúa vẫn còn trong mình, thì không cần ai dạy cho hết; song vì sự xức dầu của Ngài dạy các con đủ mọi việc, mà sự ấy là thật, không phải dối, thì hãy ở trong Ngài, theo như sự dạy dỗ mà các con đã nhận.

– God has anointed us as His people, so we should be grateful and try our best to live accordingly in order to show our appreciation.

1PETER 2: 9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

1PHI-E-RƠ 2: 9 – Nhưng anh em là dòng giống được lựa chọn, là chức thầy tế lễ nhà vua, là dân thánh, là dân thuộc về Đức Chúa Trời, hầu cho anh em rao giảng nhân đức của Đấng đã gọi anh em ra khỏi nơi tối tăm, đến nơi sáng láng lạ lùng của Ngài.

– If we love God, fear Him and live according to His standards, He will protect us, and keep us safe from our enemies and disasters as a reward.

PSALM 27: 5 – For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

THI THIÊN 27: 5 – Vì trong ngày tai họa, Ngài sẽ che khuất tôi trong lều Ngài, giấu tôi nơi kín mật của trại Ngài; Cũng sẽ đỡ tôi lên trên một hòn đá.

– May the love of God always be upon us as we try our best to live like His children until the day He comes. Amen.
