– We all know that our words has a lot of impact on others. As Christians, we should always be careful when speaking to others, at home, at church or at our workplace. In the Bible, there are more than 100 verses that were recorded to teach us how to speak in a proper manner to each other.

PROVERBS 15: 23 – A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

CHÂM NGÔN 15: 23 – Miệng hay đáp giỏi khiến người vui vẻ; Và lời nói phải thì lấy làm tốt biết bao!

– Communication between spouses is very important for marriage. Even in our mind, we should think nicely of our spouses.

– Every marriage start with nice words between couples. No one wants to get married if they always argue with their significant other.

– Sometimes even after marriage, couples uses harsh words towards each other, especially when angry. Even if they make peace, those bad memories may stay with them afterwards. If they don’t make it up right away, they may risk a break up.

– There is one psychological tendency called the Confirmation Bias. It means if we look at someone or think of someone a specific way, we constantly look for proof to prove that right. We must try our best to avoid that tendency and we should change to be better for each other and for God.

2CORINTHIANS 4: 16 – For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2CÔ-RINH-TÔ 4: 16 – Vậy nên chúng ta chẳng ngã lòng, dầu người bề ngoài hư nát, nhưng người bề trong cứ đổi mới càng ngày càng hơn.

– Here is one example of this tendency: Our fingers are small, but if we bring them too close to our eyes, they can blot out the sun. None of us is perfect, but we should focus more on the good qualities than the bad ones. With this, we can improve ourselves.

SONG OF SOLOMON 2: 15 – Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

NHÃ CA 2: 15 – Hãy bắt cho chúng tôi những con chồn, những con chồn nhỏ phá hại vườn nho; Vì vườn nho chúng tôi đang trổ bông.

– There is one verse in the Bible that emphasizes on the importance of words:

PROVERBS 18: 21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

CHÂM NGÔN 18: 21 – Sống chết ở nơi quyền của lưỡi; Kẻ ái mộ nó sẽ ăn bông trái của nó.

– Our marriage will be good or bad partially depending on the way we speak to our spouses. With that in mind, we should always be careful with our words when communicating with each other.

– May we be blessed with the wisdom from God to know how to build up happiness in our marriage for us, for our children, to glorify God and give good example for non-believers. Amen.
