For us Christians the Thanksgiving season it the time we all give thanks to God for all kind of blessings that He has given us throughout the year. When people thank each other, they use their words and gifts, and we Christians when thanking God we use songs and they are one kind of offerings that we give up to Him. God loves this kind of thanks.

PSALM 50: 23 – Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Because giving thanks by singing songs to Him is what God pleases so we should use it more often everywhere, not only in the church but all places that we go or stay, and we also have to do practice in singing as much as we can to make it the best. Our homes should be a place where we sing more so that our children can grow up in a pleasant environment with peaceful and heavenly music.

We should sing to God as a habit because it can bring us many benefits, both in the spiritual and physical life. The Bible lets us know that whatever we do, we should do it for God.

COLOSSIANS 3: 23 – And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.

We should sing our praises to God with a full heart. That’s why we show it by practicing more often, like the Israelites did in the ancient time:

1CHRONICLES 25: 7 – So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

Like the Asaph’s family, we should make singing in praise be professional so that we can offer God the best of our talent. When we practice singing more often, it will become one of our good habits, and it will bring us many benefits. Some health experts have mentioned of those benefits in their researches. That’s why the Bible encourages us to give thanks to God as often as possible.

EPHESIANS 5: 20 – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

According to some health experts, good habits will help us have confidence, a healthy lifestyle, and it relaxes our mind and body. We can understand it as we remember that the habit of brushing our teeth twice a day and after meals will help us to have good teeth and a beautiful smile. The habit of going to bed and waking up at the same time is also good for our health.

It’s good in the same way for people who are working regularly on schedule or who exercises every day. Students who attend school regularly and work hard will have good results and can be able to find good job in the future. Even in sport, the team who practice more often will have a better chance of winning in competitions.

If we Christians build up for ourselves the good habit of praying regularly, reading the Bible every day and practicing singing gospel songs more often, then we will see the benefits of becoming a good Christian, a better person for society and a beloved son/daughter to God.

HEBREWS 10: 25 – Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching

EPHESIANS 6: 18 – Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

JOSHUA 1: 8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

We can find an example in the life of Daniel, who regularly prayed to God three times a day:

DANIEL 6: 10 – Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Because of those good habits, Daniel was called the beloved servant of God and was promoted to high status in king’s court:

DANIEL 10: 11 – And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.

In the same way, when we Christians build up those good habits, we will be blessed much more by God.

As with the habit of singing praises to God and practicing it regularly, we will become better in singing eventually. We can also use our singing to bring others to God and revive our local churches and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ to come to God more often.

PSALM 42: 4 – When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

Singing to God will make us more calm and pleasant to others, and can make our homes becoming a relaxing environment for our children to grow up and develop their musical skill or talent later in their years. More than that, singing praises to God will prepare ourselves for the day we will sing with holy angels in God’s heavenly kingdom forever.

May God give us strength and determination to build up the habit of singing praises to God in the new year 2020 and for the rest of our lives so that we always show gratitude to Him for His blessings and make Christian life more pleasant to attract others to the love of God and His salvation in Jesus Christ. May God bless us much more when we try the best to do so. Amen.
