There are things that we should do or should start doing in order to have a bright future in Christ. Like parents nurturing their children, God always wants us to grow in our spiritual life and be healthy in the physical body. What God wants are expressed in these verses:

3JOHN 1: 2 – Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

PROVERBS 19: 20 – Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

2CORINTHIANS 4: 16 – For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

1CORINTHIANS 16: 13 – Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

REVELATION 22: 11 – He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

As we say we love God, we should show our love to Him by obeying and doing what He wants us to achieve in this life. That’s one of the reasons we should count our days on Earth in order to be wise and satisfy God’s demands for us.

We all know that we never get back the time that we lost. It’s gone forever, so therefore we have to treasure our time on Earth more than other precious things. We must count each day of our lives and never waste any one of them. It helps us to be wise:

PSALM 90: 12 – So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

We must not only count the days of our lives, but we also must know how to use them wisely. There are some people who counted their lives by wishing themselves to never be old or to prolong their youthful look but it’s not what God meant when He encouraged us to count our days on Earth.

According to God’s words in Psalm 90: 12, only those who are humble knows how to count their days while recognizing that they are not wise enough. For those who are proud of themselves as wise men will never want to learn how to count their days.

As we want to learn how to count our days, we should first remember that in one year we only have 365 or 366 days if it‘s leap year. If any one of them was wasted, we never get them back. We should always try to use it as carefully as we can. Each day at the start of the morning, we should think of how to use that day wisely and at the end of it, before we get into bed for the night, we should recall how we used it and should plan to do better the next day.

For each day of our lives, we should communicate to God by reading the Bible and pray. When we read the Bible, we listen to God through His Word, and when we pray, it means we are talking to Him. It will help us tremendously both in the spiritual and physical life.

There are many things that we should do in a day. With God’s guidance in the Bible, we know what we should do and what we should not:

EPHESIANS 5: 19 – Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

COLOSSIANS 4: 6 – Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

We should also try to do good deed for someone each day, even to help a child with a cup of water:

MATTHEW 10: 42 – And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

HEBREWS 13: 16 – But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

HEBREWS 13: 2 – Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

To learn how to count each day of our lives, we should try to avoid doing bad things also, because God is Just and He will surely reward and punish each person according to what they did in this life:

GALATIANS 6: 7 – Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

JOHN 9: 31 – Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth.

God is merciful, so if we sinned, we should repent right away and He will certainly forgive us:

2PETER 3: 9 – The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

REVELATION 3: 19 – As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

When Christians know how to count each day of their lives, they will know what to do and what not to do, and who we should be friends with and who we should not. That’s is the virtue of wisdom, and that kind of wisdom helps ourselves and others to find salvation in Jesus Christ.

PROVERBS 11: 30 – The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

If we learn how to count each day of our lives, we will obtain the heavenly wisdom. It’s different from human wisdom:

JAMES 3: 17 – But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

1CORINTHIANS 1: 20 – Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

May God teach us know how to count the days of our lives on Earth so that we will not waste any of them. May God grant us the heavenly wisdom from Him as we learn to count our days so that we will receive the salvation and live forever with Him in His kingdom. May God help us to be diligent and patient to count each day of our time on Earth until the day He comes. Amen.
