PROBLEM CAUSED BY DRY BRAKE CALIPER SLIDE PIN

I replaced the brake pads on my car, and now it consumes less fuel. On the same route to Lancaster, I used to burn through more than a full tank of gas for the round trip; now I use less than three-quarters of a tank—saving over 5 gallons (about 19 liters). The issue was a dry brake caliper slide pin; it prevented the caliper from retracting to its original position after braking, causing friction against the brake rotor that wasted fuel. After applying fresh grease, the brakes work perfectly. However, it is important to tighten the bolts to the correct torque specifications; otherwise, the brakes won’t function properly.
